PIPE-FLO version 6 files can be imported into version 7. In most cases, you can run your imported system with little or no alterations. Before you import a version 6 file, you are strongly encouraged to read about the modifications that are made to version 6 systems before you import them.

Before you import your version 6 file, you should do the following:

  • PIPE-FLO imports only the lineup that is the current lineup in the version 6 system. Open it in version 6 and select the lineup that you want to be your Design Case lineup in version 7.

  • Remove any Pump Controls (PCs) in the system. These controls are no longer supported in version 7. When a version 6 file is imported, pumps with PCs are removed from the system and placed on the FLO-Sheet below the system drawing.

  • If your system uses specialty valve or pipe tables, you should create version 7 editions of the tables if you want to edit the valve/fitting or pipe data in version 7.

  • If you created your own version 6 fluid tables, you should create version 7 editions of the tables if you want PIPE-FLO to automatically look up fluid properties for you.

These steps instruct you on how in import a Version 6 system into Version 7:

    1. Click the Open button.
    2. Select Version 6 Linelist in the Files of type drop-down list box.
    3. Specify the version 6 file name.
    4. Choose OK.
    5. Review the conversion notes for your system.
    6. To save the conversion notes list to a text file, click the Save List button.
    7. Specify a file name and click the Save button.
    8. Choose OK to close the conversion notes list box.
