The following modifications are made to a version 6 system when it is opened in version 7.
Pipe Specifications
Pipe Specifications are divided into Fluid Zones and Specifications.
Altered Fluid Properties
If the system contains pipelines with altered fluid properties, a Fluid Zone is created for each altered case.
NOTE: If a version 6 pipe specification has manually entered fluid properties, or if the specification references a fluid table that is not available in version 7 format, the fluid is assumed to be a liquid. Also, the vapor pressure and critical pressure values are set to zero. You should review the fluid zones in your version 7 system and make the appropriate changes.
Altered Pipe Properties
If the system contains pipelines with altered pipe properties, a Specification is created for each altered case.
Non-standard Valves
Valves and fittings not found in PIPE-FLO's standard table are imported as Fixed K values.
Unconnected Pipelines
Unconnected pipelines are not imported.
Undesigned Pipelines
Undesigned pipelines are not imported.
Pumps
Both installed and uninstalled pumps are imported. For installed pumps, a short pipeline of length 0.01 is inserted in the system upstream of the pump suction. The pump is then installed at the downstream node of this short pipeline.Uninstalled pumps are placed on the FLO-Sheet below the system drawing.
Components
Both installed and uninstalled components are imported. For installed components, a short pipeline of length 0.01 is inserted in the system upstream of the component inlet. The component is then installed at the downstream node of this short pipeline.Uninstalled components are placed on the FLO-Sheet below the system drawing.
Pump Controls
Pump Controls (PCs) are no longer supported in version 7 and are not imported.Pumps with PCs installed are removed from the system and imported as uninstalled pumps which are placed on the FLO-Sheet below the system drawing.
Pressure Sources
Pressure sources that have a nonzero level specified are imported as tanks.Pressure sources with a level of zero are imported as pressure demands.
Demands
Flow Demands are imported without any changes.
FCVs
Flow Control Valves (FCVs) are imported.A short pipeline of length 0.01 is inserted in the system upstream of the valve inlet. The FCV is then located at the downstream node of this short pipeline.
PRVs
Pressure Regulating Valves (PRVs) are imported.A short pipeline of length 0.01 is inserted in the system upstream of the valve inlet. The PRV is then located at the downstream node of this short pipeline.
BPVs
Back Pressure Valves (BPVs) are imported.A short pipeline of length 0.01 is inserted in the system downstream of the valve outlet. The BPV is then located at the upstream node of this short pipeline.
Check Valves
Check valve controls are not imported. In version 7, the function of this control is replaced with the Prevent Backflow feature.
Lineup Files
Only the current lineup file is imported. Before importing a version 6 system, you should save it with the lineup you want imported. This lineup is then designated as the Design Case in version 7.
Closed Pipelines
The status of closed pipelines is imported.
Symbols
All drawing symbols are reset to the default symbols.
