PIPE-FLO and PUMP-FLO version 7 and newer programs use a new Electronic Pump Catalog format. As a result the Electronic Pump Catalogs designed to work with version 6 and earlier programs cannot be opened directly by version 7 programs. This article describes the options for converting version 6 catalogs to the new Electronic Pump Catalog used by version 7.

The Electronic Pump Catalogs used by PUMP-FLO version 6 uses the Btrieve database access engine from Pervasive Software. With the release of PIPE-FLO version 7 programs (Professional, Lite, Stock) and PUMP-FLO version 7, the need for the Btrieve access engine was eliminated. A new Electronic Pump Catalog format was created for version 7 programs.

To insure an upgrade path for our customers, a catalog conversion utility program is supplied that converts the version 5 and 6 Electronic Pump Catalogs to the new version 7 format. For the conversion program you need to have the Btrieve database access engine files installed on your computer.

The following instruction outline the best way to convert your existing Electronic Pump Catalogs to the new version 7 file format.

Installing a PIPE-FLO or PUMP-FLO v7 upgrade over version 6
The necessary Btrieve files were installed during the version 6 installation. When the PIPE-FLO or PUMP-FLO version 7 upgrade is installed on the computer, the existing Electronic Pump Catalogs are automatically converted to the new version 7 catalog format.

Installing a PIPE-FLO or PUMP-FLO version 7 upgrade on a new computer
If you are installing a PIPE-FLO or PUMP-FLO version 7 upgrade on a new computer, and your company has the disk for a PIPE-FLO or PUMP-FLO version 6 program:
# Install PUMP-FLO version 6 on the computer
# Install the PIPE-FLO or PUMP-FLO version 7 upgrade on the computer.

When the PIPE-FLO or PUMP-FLO version 7 upgrade is installed on the computer the existing Electronic Pump Catalogs are automatically converted to the new version 7 catalog format.

Receiving an old format Electronic Pump Catalog after upgrading to version 7
If you receive an version 5 or 6 Electronic Pump Catalog from a pump manufacturer, after upgrading to PIPE-FLO or PUMP-FLO version 7, you will need to run the catalog conversion program CATCNVRT.EXE that was installed with the upgrade. You will need to have the Btrieve database access engine installed to run the catalog conversion program.
