License for a stand alone PIPE-FLO product cannot be found when the user has an HP LaserJet 3100 multi-function printer attached. This may also apply to other HP multi-function printers.

PIPE-FLO Stand-Alone products are supplied with a Verification Key that is attached to the parallel port. Most parallel port devices adhere to a the IEEE 1284 standard, which allows them to share use of the port. This enables users to attach the verification key to the port, and then attach a local printer behind it.

HP supplies a software package called Jet Suite PRO with the LaserJet 3100 multi-function printer. This software seizes the computer parallel port not allowing any other device to use it.
