Running PIPE-FLO v6 under newer licenses

Some customers have requested the ability to back-version the software to run specific system models. This article enables users to run PIPE-FLO version 6 programs using version 7.0 and 8.0 licenses.

PIPE-FLO Version 6 software (both stand-alone and network) requires v6 hardware keys to operation. These keys are returned as part of the upgrade process. Users who have upgraded to PIPE-FLO version 7.0 and 8.0 can use this procedure to enable version 6 software to run without keys.

Note that this procedure will enable PIPE-FLO version 6 software (Stand-alone or Network) to use either Stand-alone or Network licenses of PIPE-FLO version 7.0 and 8.0.

The upgraded PIPE-FLO program (version 7.0 or 8.0) must be installed on the computer and be able to find a license. Version 6.08 (the latest maintenance release) software must also be installed on the computer.

Verify the version of PIPE-FLO on the computer:

  • on the Help Menu, choose About PIPE-FLO
  • below the graphic, the complete version number is listed as Ver:

    Install version 6.08 on the computer:

  • skip this step if version 6.08 is already installed on the computer
  • locate your company's copy of the version 6.08 distribution media OR download and unzip the attached file "v6_setup.zip"
  • install version 6.08 by running "setup.exe"
  • take the default installation path, do not install it over the newer PIPE-FLO
  • enter your version 6 serial number (or use 1111)
  • press CANCEL to the question regarding a Driver

    To enable PIPE-FLO version 6.08 to run using version 7.0 and above licenses:

  • download and unzip the attached file "v6_update_license.zip"
  • verify that the upgraded PIPE-FLO can find a license
  • close the PIPE-FLO program
  • locate your installation of PIPE-FLO version 6
  • rename the file FLOSRVR.EXE in that path to FLOSRVR.SAV
  • copy the unzipped files to that path, do not replace an existing file

    Start PIPE-FLO version 6 to verify that a license can be obtained.
