When running PIPE-FLO with a network license, license clients with Window XP Service Pack 2 or later versions of Windows may be unable to communicate to the license server. As of Windows XP Service Pack 2, the firewall is turned on by default, which can block the ports for the software to communicate properly.

The SafeNet Sentinel LM and Sentinel RMS license servers use UDP port numbers 5093, 5094 and 5099. These ports need to be opened for clients to be able to communicate with the license server.

Follow these steps to add a "port exception" to the Windows XP firewall:

  1. Click "Start", click "Run...", type "wscui.cpl" and then click "OK" to open the "Windows Security Center"
  2. Click the "Windows Firewall" icon
  3. Select the "Exceptions" tab, and then click "Add Port..." to display the "Add a Port" dialog
  4. Type a descriptive name for this port exception. (Example: "PIPE-FLO")
  5. Enter the port number that your program uses (Repeat this process for each of the ports 5093, 5094 and 5099)
  6. Select the "UDP" protocol
  7. Click "Change scope..." to view or to set the scope for the port exception (if desired), then click "OK"
  8. Click "OK" to close the "Add a Port" dialog
  9. To verify that the port settings are correct, restart PIPE-FLO

If these steps do not resolve this issue, please contact our Technical Support department for assistance.
