SafeNet has released a patch for version 8 of the Sentinel LM license server. This patch addresses issues with version 8.0.0 which includes license commuting.

For PIPE-FLO version 2007, refer to Article Number 177 for the Sentinel RMS License Server.

Sentinel LM version 8.0.0 was included in version 2005 of PIPE-FLO professional. SafeNet has released a patch for this software that fixes issues with it, mainly issues with the checking out of licenses for commuting purposes.

To install this patch, download the file listed at the bottom of this article, then follow the steps below. (Note: Version 8.0.2 is included in the PIPE-FLO Professional 2005b maintenance release as well.)

Installing the License Server Software

It is necessary to update your Sentinel LM license server software; it is recommended that the previous version be uninstalled prior to installing version 8.0.2. The installation path for Sentinel LM may be different for each version of the software. In order to move existing licenses to the new version, you need to copy the license file "LSERVRC" to the new directory path.

  1. Uninstall previous version(s) of the Sentinel LM software
    1. Verify that there are no clients actively using the Sentinel LM Licenses. This can be determined by using the WlmAdmin administration tool.
    2. Shut down the license server by stopping the Sentinel LM service in the "Services" Control Panel or selecting the shutdown server option within the WlmAdmin tool.
    3. Copy your "LSERVRC" license file from the Sentinel LM directory to another location.
    4. Uninstall the old license server software through "Add/Remove Programs" in the Control Panel.

  2. Install the Sentinel LM software
(Note: It is recommended the license server have a static IP address assigned to it.)
    1. From your installation CD, run the file "Server\Setup\Setup.exe" and step through the prompts. The Sentinel LM server will start automatically at the end of the installation. If you do not have your installation CD, you may download the installer from the location listed at the bottom of this article.
Note: System privileges during installation must allow registry modification. You must have Administrator privileges under Windows 2000/XP/2003/Vista.
    2. After the server installation completes, copy the Server Tools from the "Server\ServerTools" directory to your Sentinel LM Server directory. By default, the path to the Sentinel LM directory is "C:\Program Files\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel LM Server\WinNT". If you are updating the Sentinel LM license server software on your computer, copy the "LSERVRC" file from the location in step 1c to your new Sentinel LM directory and restart the Sentinel LM service.
    3. Copies of certain tools that you may want to supply to your users are located in the folder "Server\ClientTools".

  3. Reinstall your license file
    1. Run "WlmAdmin.exe" (in the "ServerTools" folder) to reinstall the license to your license server.
    2. Under "Subnet Servers," right-click on the name of the license server computer.
    3. Choose "Add Feature" -> "From file" -> "to Server and its File". Select the file "LICENSE.LIC".
    4. To view license availability, within WlmAdmin choose "View" -> "Refresh all".
