With the 2007 and 2009 version of PIPE-FLO, Engineered Software uses the SafeNet Sentinel RMS software locking system to distribute and control network licenses of its products. See Article Details below to see what Sentinel RMS Server software may run on.
For PIPE-FLO version 2005 or earlier, refer to Article Number 172 for the patch to your Sentinel LM version 8.0.0 software.
Installing the License Server Software
- Uninstall the previous version of the Sentinel LM Software
If you have an earlier version of the software installed, it is necessary to update your Sentinel RMS license server software. The previous version must be uninstalled prior to installing Sentinel RMS version 8.0.5. The installation path for Sentinel software is different for each version of the software. In order to move existing licenses to the new version, you need to copy the license file "LSERVRC" to the new directory path. (Default path is "C:\Windows\System32")
- Verify there are no clients using the Sentinel LM Licenses. This can be determined from the WlmAdmin administration tool, described later in this document.
- Shut down the license server by stopping the Sentinel LM service in the Services Control Panel or selecting the shutdown server option from the WlmAdmin tool.
- Copy your "LSERVRC" license file from the Sentinel LM directory to another location.
- Uninstall the old license server software through Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel.
- Install the Sentinel RMS Software
System privileges during installation must allow registry modification. You must have Administrator privileges under Windows 2000/XP/2003/2008.
- From your installation CD or downloaded media run the file "\Server\Setup\Setup.exe" and step through the prompts. The Sentinel RMS server will start automatically at the end of the installation. If you do not have the installation CD or the downloadable media, you may obtain it here.
- After the server installation completes, copy the Server Tools folder to your Sentinel RMS Server directory. By default, the path to the Sentinel RMS directory is "C:\Program Files\Common Files\SafeNet Sentinel\Sentinel RMS License Manager\WinNT".
- If you are updating the Sentinel LM license server software on your computer, copy the "LSERVRC" file from the location in step 1c to your "Windows\System32" directory and restart the Sentinel RMS service.
- Copies of certain tools that you may want to supply to clients are located in the "Server\ClientTools" folder.
