It’s easy to specify a preferred operating region on a curve using PUMP-FLO. The steps are primarily the same on both our web-based selection tool at www.pump-flo.com and when using the desktop PUMP-FLO software.
From the Design Point Search screen, go to the Advanced
Criteria area.
(On the desktop version of PUMP-FLO, click the Advanced Criteria tab; on the web version of PUMP-FLO,
click the link on the black toolbar at the top of your screen.)
In the top left
hand dialogue, enter the preferred operating region (range value) you would like to see as a
percentage of the flow at the best efficiency point. Values should be entered
in whole numbers, for example 80 and 120. See figure 1.
Next, return to the Primary Criteria screen and enter your
search criteria. When you generate a list of search results by clicking the Search Button (bottom right), the preferred
operating region you have specified will be viewable on the thumbnail curve.
Curves that meet your primary design criteria, but the design point falls
outside your preferred operating region, will be shown on the list with a
warning flag. To sort ‘flagged’ selections to the bottom of your selection
list, click on the top of the flag column (the ‘flag’ icon on the web, and the
word ‘Flag’ on the desktop).
After you have selected a curve, the preferred operating region will also be displayed on the graph window and your printed reports.
