Subject:Pump Transfer Failure
Program affected:PIPE-FLO Professional, PIPE-FLO Stock, Flow of Fluids
Approved by: GS
Background
A small number of users have been experiencing issues when transferring a pump from the pump selection module into their PIPE-FLO fluid system. After intensive investigations, it has been found to be hardware based and caused by a certain speed of CPUs where the CPU time is transferred to and then away from PIPE-FLO before the pump selection can be transferred from the pump module. A new pump selection module has been created in order to correct this issue. This new module should only be imported onto systems where the transfer issue arises.
Condition
A system is calculated and a pump selection is made based on the design point search. The transfer button (lightning bolt) is then pressed and you are returned to the Flo-sheet except the pump dialog box is no longer open. Upon opening the pump dialog box (by double clicking the pump) the pump data is not transferred in and the pump is still set to "Size pump for".
Workaround
1) Download the Pump Transfer Issue Fix.zip file.
2) Go into: "program files\engineered software\PIPE-FLO Professional" and find the pump.exe file (this may be in a subfolder 2007 if you've got multiple versions set up). Rename this pump.exe file to pump_backup.exe (this way you'll have the original in case you need it at a later date).
3) Put both pump.txt and vcredist_x86.txt files onto your desktop and rename them to have an extension of .exe (pump.exe and vcredist_x86.exe).
4) Move the pump.exe in the folder which contains the pump_backup.exe.
5) Double click on the vcredist_x86.exe to run it. Once this file is run, you will no longer need this executable.
Note: If an error occurs when installing vcredist_x86.exe which refers to an existing version already installed, you will need to go to Start / Control Panel / Add or Remove Programs then remove Microsoft Visual C++ 2005 Redistributable. This program will be re-installed once you run the vcredist_x86.exe.
